Address poisoning

Also written or said as: poisoned address, lookalike address, dust attack

A scam that plants a lookalike wallet address in your history so you copy the wrong one.

A scammer sends you a tiny transfer from an address that starts and ends with the same characters as one you use often. Weeks later you copy an address from your history, grab the fake by mistake, and your SOL goes to the scammer. Copy addresses only from a source you trust, and check the middle of the address too, not just the first and last few characters.

This guide is for learning. It is not financial advice. Most memecoins go to zero and most people who trade them lose money. Only ever trade what you can afford to lose.
