Base fee
Also written or said as: signature fee, base network fee
The fixed part of Solana's network fee: 5,000 lamports for each signature.
A normal transfer has one signature, so its base fee is 0.000005 SOL, a tiny fraction of a cent. Half is burned and half goes to the validator. It stays the same whether the network is quiet or busy; the part that changes is the priority fee.
