Rent

A small, refundable SOL deposit Solana needs to keep an account open, such as a token balance in your wallet.

Each new token your wallet holds needs its own token account, and opening one locks a small deposit: about 0.0015 SOL in October 2026, and set to fall as a network change rolls out in steps. When you sell a coin and close the empty account, that SOL comes back to you. Traders who have touched hundreds of coins can have a noticeable amount sitting in old empty accounts, and many wallets offer to close them.
