Token account

Also written or said as: token accounts, associated token account, ata

The small account that holds your balance of one token. Your wallet has one for every coin you have held.

The first time you buy a coin, your wallet opens a token account for it, which locks a refundable deposit, about 0.0015 SOL as of October 2026. Sell to zero and close the account, and the deposit comes back. That is why your first buy of a coin costs a little more SOL than later ones.
