Rug pull

Also written or said as: rug, rugpull, rugged, rugging, pulled the rug, got rugged

When the people behind a coin take the money and leave holders with near-worthless tokens.

A hard rug uses a switch the creator kept, like pulling the pool's liquidity. On launchpad coins, where those switches are off, a rug is usually a soft rug: the dev and their linked wallets sell a big supply into buyers, all at once or bit by bit. The price can fall 80 to 99% and almost never comes back. 'I got rugged' is probably the most common sentence in the trenches.
